The Drau cycle path is 366 km long and leads from the source of the Drau in South Tyrol, through East Tyrol and Carinthia, to Maribor in Slovenia. In Carinthia alone you can cycle 250 km along the river banks. |
Route quality
The condition of the Drau cycle path has improved immensely over the last few years. Many gaps were closed – and it can now be cycled on continuously with signposting from Toblach/Dobbiaco to Lavamünd, apart from a short distance near St. Peter im Holz, close to Spittal/Drau. Adventure stations and structures, such as the Santa Lucia suspension bridge, have been erected along the R1. The Drau cycle path mainly runs along the banks of the river on paved paths, but sometimes on minor roads with little traffic.
You will find the route, all Drau cycle path inns and exciting excursion tips along the path in the Drau cycle path folder. You can order the folder for free – by telephone on +43 463 3000 or by e-mail to info@kaernten.at.
To make travelling along the Drau cycle path even easier, the Drau cycle path inn-keepers have developed an app, which is now free for Android and iPhone. In the app, cyclists can get information about the individual stages on the Drau cycle path and interesting sights along the way – they can also find out where the next inn is. So download the Drau cycle path app and get on your bike! Download app for Android Download app for iPhone |
